Default 07 vortec max dod delete

I have my engine apart right now to do the piston rings so im thinking about getting rid of the dod lifters i have a 4.8 l20 parts engine with 50k can i use parts off the 4.8 to delete the dod or should i buy new lifters? I havent had a problem with the lifters yet at 200,000km but its procharged so id rather replace them while its apart.

I would use new parts but that's just me. If you must have a machinist inspect all the used parts.

Lifters aren't too bad... last set of LS7's i grabbed was around $200 in the Canadian ruble. Some guys are selling LS7's for $110 for the set of 16 USD which could be a touch cheaper depending on shipping and brokerage charges you get.

I dismantle the old lifters because I am a scab and inspect them...... if the wheels are in good shape and the internals ae not damaged... run them. I do these things not because I can't buy new..... I just don't like wasting parts. If you are going to pay someone to inspect your lifters...... buy new ones.

The 4.8 has most everything else you need beyond wear items you should replace anyway. I you are keeping your VVT reuse your L76's timing cover but if not and the 4.8 is an older L20 without VVT use it instead.

I was talking about the other parts like rods, crankshaft ect etc. but he was talking about his lifters. Plus you have very good points that he can go by.

Im just doing a budget build right now to hopefully get me through the summer ill be doing a 408 stroker kit over the winter so i want to spend as little as possible so it would be nice if i could reuse the lifters i havent had any problems with them yet on 10lbs of boost so ill pull them and check them and prob reuse them for now. Plus i was reading up on the dod delete and it says ill need a new cam too but i dont want to cam it untill i build it this winter.

Since nothing looked damaged only the #7 piston that the ring broke and poked through i was going to do a piston ring kit, 1 new piston, rod bearings and valve spring seals and hope it makes it through the summer is there anything else i should do while its apart?
