07 Avalanche power steering leak...106K
 

So my wife has had my truck out of town for the last month, I get in this morning and drive to work justto hear the dreaded noise coming from under the hood. Check power steering fluid and alas.......dry. So I added more fluid and now theres a nice puddle under my truck. Anyone have this happen? New seal kit or new power steering pump needed? Any advis eis helpful.

is it your rack and pinion? or the actual power steering pump? if you have the tools to take the pump off, just change it. if not then go to the junk yard and buy another one for cheap, with low miles. i havent had this problem yet, but who knows.

Looking at it just now it looks like it is the power steering pump but I am unsure. It seems that it was a problem with these Avalanches. At least nine on the avalanche forum from 07. They got them done while under warranty.

Its probably the steering gear leaking. See it all the time.

yep steering gear, no fun. Went to the dealer for a recall, found out the following:
26mi. power steering pump replacement
26mi. windshield replacement
63,546mi. forward clutch sprag replacement
97,999mi reprogram BCM
97,999mi jumper harness installation
and a battery rundown recall
cant believe this truck has been through this much
