Default WTB A 6.2 Truck, Have Questions... Help Please!!

I have just started a search for a 6.2/6L80E truck. Upgrading from my 03 GMC CCSB 4x4. I need the truck for my home improvement business.

How can you tell from the outside or at a quick glance if its the 6.2 or not?? I hate being followed around by a salesman..... or asking for help!! I just want to look in peace... without all the high pressure selling. It would also be nice to know what a lot had available in 6.2's before driving to everyone of them and wasting time and gas. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

The easiest thing to look for is the exhaust routed straight out the back on the passenger side (instead of being turned out behind the right rear wheel like 4.3-5.3 trucks) and the rear disc brakes (instead of the rear drums on 4.3-5.3 trucks). The rearend on 6.2 trucks is also a 14-bolt as opposed to the 10-bolt in the lesser trucks, but that is harder to see.

Also, I forgot to add: the only way you can order the 3.73s is if you get RPO NHT (Max Trailering Package) which comes only with the handling suspension, cooling package, and 3.73s. If you get any other major package (Z71, for example) it will delete NHT and you will get the HD cooling pack with whatever suspension you ordered and 3.42s. Just letting you know, before you get to the dealer. A lot of them have no idea how to option the trucks and what gets what.

Not a problem. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I've been down this road already, and I am a research junkie so I've probably already looked up the answer to your question.

Can you only get the 6.2 in a crew cab?

No. It is available only in ECSB and CCSB, whether 4x4, 4x2, or AWD (Sierra Denali). Minimum trim level is LT for the Chevy, and the equivalent for GMC. Sierra Denali AWD 6.2 trucks do not have the 14-bolt rear and are not available with 3.73s; trans forward they are the same.

Started looking today, way harder than I expected just to find one. I looked at two lots and then Internet searched two more. I would like to drive one to see how they run compared to my little 5.3 with baby cam/ converter. My wife was good to go with the purchase so I may have to look a little harder. The exhaust is a good tip, I read enough window stickers today to go blind

Use the tool on Chevy's web site to find a vehicle. If you narrow the engine options down to a 6.2 it should at least help you figure out which dealers have one in stock.
