Wheel/tire question
Can I run a 275 60 17 on a 9.5in wide wheel with factory offset?
I'm concerned about rubbing. Thanks |
What truck? Suspension stock?
|
2006 ecsb 2wd
4in drop front with spindles and springs. 5in drop rear with flip kit and raised shackle. The concern is the front. |
I rubbed in parking lots on a 2/4 drop with a 275/55/20 and thats a 31.9in tire, those 275/60/17 are only a 30in tire.
I know I would have never rubbed if I was running 255/55/20's because it was almost 1in smaller in overall diameter. So I'd think a 30in tire won't rub much or if at all. |
Thanks FFDP.
The long story of this is I have 4 P53 option Sierra wheels that have been widened by Weldcraft from 7.5 to 9.5 inches. Right now, I have 255 60 17's on them and don't have any issues. I was wondering more about the front clock to clock turn than anything else. |
So I've got Nitto 420s. 275 60 17.
I hate the way it rides compared to the 255 60 17s. I know it's a bigger tire but it also feels like I've lost 50hp. It's weird. Anyone need a set of 420s with less than 500 miles? |

Bigger foot print, more weight and sidewall height as likely to blame for the ride feel.
My 275/55's rode alot stiffer than the 265/65/18's I swapped too before I sold my old sierra. |

It's like changing your rear end ration from 3.73 -> 3.42 you will feel like you lost hp. That 255 tire is too small and would throw off your speedo, unless you are correcting in the tune. The 275 is stock height. but since you are pretty well lowered, the 255 is probably a better size for ya. |
