The truck ap is talking about is my buddys truck, its an rcsb z71 with the tailgate, bumper, spare and hitch removed. everything else is like it rolled off the assembly line. It was a head and cam 5.3, the intake was an ls6 intake which really has shown no real gains just looks nicer. That time was on slicks in 2wd.

Honestly nobody really tries to make 4wd/awd trucks fast NA everyone goes boosted.

I never ran my old setup at the track but in was in my current truck with a 418 stroker, full weight(5400ish) going by "comparisons" on the street it wouldve been a low 12 second truck. A guy way back in the day with a c3 pulled off low 12 na too. A mod on here has an SSS with a 408 running mid 12s and its a pretty tame combo, nothing radical by any means.

thanks for the info reason im asking is because a dodge guy on another forum wanted to compare his truck to other 4x4 all motor. His truck is a 05 4x4 reg cab h/c 5.7 on 17's and ran a 12.9@103 with a small cam and 2800 stall and 4.56 gears. He then got a 418 hemi and with a 224/228 cam replaced the small cam and in 70* weather ran a 12.56@105 but since then has added a circle D triple disk 3200 stall and is hoping for low 12's this winter.

so he ask me if i know and i thought i would be something i would like to know. I think if i had a 4x4 and with a 418 like you or him and only pulled a low 12 i think i would be pissed but i guess its not bad for being a 4x4

My setup had a lot more in it since I was still running a clutch fan, stock intake, 2.5" collector headers, full weight and on heavy cast chrome 18s with 32" tires. IMO with good weather and everything else taken care of it wouldve been a mid 11 second truck but I never got that far with it. If my setup was maxed out and I only ran a low 12 with a stroker motor in a rcsb truck id be pissed but then again it will run those same times on the street and beat faster cars from a dig of course.

Thats why i like having 4wd, Ive spanked quite a few much faster vehicles simply because I had traction. Once you can break traction in 4hi is when it gets real fun

true well ill let him know he will be back soon with the new stall in colder weather. that cam he has doesnt make power till 4500 rpm and i think thats killing him also. I think a good TQ would drop his time also.

How does a 224/228 cam not make poweer til 4500 in a 418 cubic inch engine? That size cam is considered mild for a 364 cube motor much less and engine with almost 60 more cubes. I ran a 237/242 in my 418 and it ran great. Pardon my ignorance of the mopar products but is there some huge inherent design difference that warrants using a smaller cam shaft for a similar application versus a gen III/IV gm engine?
