Default Whats the best truck to build?

I am looking to get a rcsb, but not sure on 2wd or 4wd, and if any years are better than others.

The plan is a 4l80 swap, with a turbo. Not wanting to run 10's, but low 12's high 11's would be nice. It still needs to be able to haul a trailer occasionally. I think 4wd will help dramatically with traction, but just didnt know if it complicates things more than its worth.

Is it much harder to do a 4L80 swap in a 4wd?

Are there certain years that are better for what I am doing?

I will probably do a forged short block at some point, but would love to run the stock motor with the turbo for a while.

I just finished my FF cobra, and will need to haul it around on occasion but I have been daily driving my 99 FRC so I dont think I could just drive a stock truck around

A pic of my cobra, just for fun

well i would think 4wd would be worthless to you living in az unless your a rancher or live in the boonies haha. i think 03 and up has a better interior and 05 and up has electric fans and rear drums so its kind what your looking for and whats in the area for the right price and condition.

Im looking at the 4wd more for traction when launching, but we do have a cabin up north that gets snow.

If you ever plan to dick around anywhere but the track, you need 4wd. Ask how many guys on here have 10-11 second trucks but are just burnout queens on the street.

Heres my truck which is low, low 10 or high 9s...on the street!

Heres another guy with a similar setup on this site Stock 48 runs 9.65 in Sacramento - YouTube

That's what I was thinking, does it complicate anything? 4l80 swap still pretty straight forward?

Do you have to get a new 4x4 switch as well since the HD case will not have auto? I wonder how much lower the 4x4 case would hang, i know its a bit bigger in size.

1500 and 2500 transfer cases are identical externally.

Definitely get the 4wd IMO. It's fantastic for drag racing, and useful many other places.
