Default We need a part interchangeability sticky.

This would be great to know when swaping/selling parts like heads, cams, injectors, waterpumps, alternators etc....
Lets get a list going of what commom parts all our motors share.

OK I'll start it out then.
The 8mm bolt that holds the Vortec cover on from 01-02 is the same.

Really guys, anyone have some info to share for this one?

99-00 alternators will work in 01 and up trucks, but will cause the battery light to come on, which can be fixed with a change in the tune. 99-00 trucks can NOT use 01 and up alternators.

...unless the PCM has been upgraded. (I have an 03 145 amp alt and an 02 PCM)

99 injectors will work in a 99 only (unless the PCM has been upgraded). 99 injectors flow 21lb/hr, 00-02 injectors flow 24.7lb/hr

I believe that 02 and up no longer have EGR, therefore the exhaust manifolds are different.

4.8-5.3's share the same exhaust manifolds and y-pipe, while 6.0's are different

I read a thread that stated that the 99 frame, and exhaust y-pipe is different also, but don't have any other info on that

...basically, the 99's are the bastard child of NBS GENIII trucks...(but they are upgradable...I have many 02 parts on mine [PCM, Injectors, 03 alternator])
