I always carry a fire extiguiser. My wiring harness caught on fire in the middle of the Smoky Mountains a few years back. Luckily I still had the extingusher in the truck from a track day. It would have burned to the ground if I would have taken the thing out. Since that day all 3 vehicles have a fire extingusher.

Fire needs 3 things ignition, fuel and oxygen.

It flared up when you opened the hood = oxygen
Cutout wires shorted (?) = ignition
what was burning?

I carry an extinguisher too, a little tiny one but as good as a beer I suppose.....btw, what kind of beer was it?

If there is ever a good reason to throw beer away that would be it right there...I mean without your truck you couldn't get more beer anyways...tough choice but I think you made the right one!

I can just picture that. You look at the fire, look at the beer, look at the fire, back at the beer. do a lil panic dance and then throw the beer at the fire.

My sisters ex boyfriend was helping me work on my blazer once and the carb caught on fire. We had a towel he could have smothered it with but instead he starts throwing handfuls of sand at the carb.

I woulda rather seen him waste a beer on it.
