So my transmission temperature gauge says trans was running at 200 and the hp tuners said 240 but I used a temperature gun and it read as 160-175. Yes I have a tru cool. Is there some sort of sensor in the valvebody?

It should be bolted to the underside of the valve body. I don't have a diagram handy but if you bought a new sensor you'd know which one it is.
