Default Tow haul doesnt work

Hey guys I have a new to me 01 Silverado 2500 2wd. Tow haul hasnt work since I bought the truck so I researched on here and found that the wires breaking is a common issue. So I checked and guess what mine were broken. So I ordered a shifter off eBay and the listing specifically said tow/haul works on the shifter. So I installed the new shifter and nothing. Still doesnt work. Is there a fuse that could be blown? I hope its not an issue with my PCM or something stupid like that.

Thanks for the help

Mine stopped working once, had a small break in the orange wire going from the shifter. I assume when you reinstalled the new shifter you reconnected the wire?

If it was a used shifter, the wire strands are probably broken inside the insulation. I'd pull the clamshells & check that first. Never seen anything else ever cause this.

I'm pretty sure the wires are fine. But I can check the resistance in the wires.

Had a little side thought there. If I were to momentarily cross the wires at the plug that should turn on tow/haul, right? If it does then the issue is in the wiring or switch. If not then the issue is somewhere else. Would this work?

You should be able to tell if tow/haul is activated just by driving it. The shift points are way different.

burned out bulb would answer your question.

agreed. The bulb could just be blown on the cluster. when driving about 25mph push the button and see if the converter unlocks. RPMs should increase 2-300rpm

Ok that makes sense. From reading the owners manual I thought that the little information center light screen thing on the left is where it says tow haul. But after some internet research I see there is actually a light on the upper right of the cluster that says tow/haul. I'll check that bulb.
