So back to the L33 deal, looks like it wouldn't come with an intake, fuel injectors/rail, throttle body. My friend tells me that a TBSS intake does work with a L33? So back to that, I mean a TBSS intake is under $150, can I use the fuel rails/injectors/throttle body from my 4.8?

He is looking for $500 for the L33, the motor supposedly has 270k on it however. I'm a bit torn, I know they are kinda rare, but I also know it's going to take some work. However if I can use most of my 4.8 parts to complete what is missing, it becomes somewhat more tempting...
He said it would come with the PCM, are there harness differences between the L33 and 4.8? He doesn't have the harness for the L33 either.

get the TBSS/NNBS rails/injectors. Youre already DBW and returnless. thats the easiest way to finish the fueling.

270k is a lot. Youre basically buying a core block and heads. Expect to have that girl rebearing'd, rering'd and get new lifters/pump at the least. I personally would forgo that expense (~2k with parts and machine work) and just get a low mile LQ9. I found several yesterday hanging out with my tuner for 14-1800 with "less than 100k" on LKQ.

Harness and PCM are similar enough to not matter, but just use your PCM and get it tuned.

Looks like my local LKQ wants $1835 for a LQ9. Some local guy on craigslist wants $1700 for a LQ9 with 145k miles. I honestly think that is all hilarious, as I bought a 5.3/4l60e/all accessories/pcm/wire harness years ago for $1500. This was destined for a 88 Silverado, which I abandoned that project when I moved.

I've got this feeling that I'm going to watch a bunch of youtube videos on in truck cam installs, buy the Cam Motion drop in cam and new springs, and be happy for a few years with that setup.

Gen IV motors with 6l80e pricing is hilarious for the ones I have found, you can get a gen V drivetrain complete for the same price, so that is also a disappointing route.

I could always make my friend an offer and then just slowly rebuild the L33 on the side haha.

So just to verify, I can reuse my current ECU and the wiring harness.
I can't reuse my fuel rail and injectors with the TBSS intake.
The TBSS intake works with the L33.

Does Cam Motion offer a drop in cam for the L33, or would it still just be the 5.3 drop in cam they already offer? Cam wise, I'm still at just wanting to run the stock converter... It's just my daily driver. Or if there is an affordable, reliable, cheap converter out there, I would be OK with that. Once again though, I don't want some built to the hilt truck, just looking for a bit of a boost in power...

Yes on injectors, not sure on rails
Yes,
Best to call them as they may recommend something else. But those 5.3L cams would work fine with a stock converter
The cheapest, budget convertor you can get is a TBSS convertor it stalls around 2500RPM.

Thanks 1FastBrick. Starting to lean towards taking the gamble on the deal and having the motor get a visual look over before stabbing it in. On one hand the mileage doesn't scare me, as my 99 Silverado I gave to my father in law turned over 300k miles with no engine issues, and I know when I owned it I put that motor through its paces every day.

Do you happen to have a part number for the TBSS converter that stalls at 2500 RPM? I didn't have much luck in my quick search the other day, only found an article that claimed 1900 RPM for the TBSS converter.

I do not have the number maybe it was the inline 6 Trailblazer converter that stalled around 2500. I know Circle D has one but its around $500 its SKU: 01-07-07-1A converter.
Circle D Specialties. GM 278mm HP 4L60 LS Torque Converter. Stalled at 2500 in my stock 5.3L

I know you can get a remanufactured converter for less money.

Yeah managed to poke around a bit longer today, looks like I want the converter from an I6 Trailblazer. Seems people beat on them quite a bit and held up no problems, and that they usually picked them up for less than $200. So a possibility, I def. don't want to spend $500+ on a converter as I'm already thinking how budget friendly I can do this upgrade.
L33
TBSS intake
Fuel rail (hoping can reuse my injectors, consensus says no for reusing my current rail though)
I6 TB converter
Cam/springs... lifters?
tune.

It looks hungry haha
