syphoning off gas

Default syphoning off gas

can gas by syphoned out of a 99 silverado? or does it have a screen,... and how much can be syphoned out. thanks

I believe there is an anti-siphon device in the fill tube. You would have to disconnect the tube from the tank and siphon directly from the tank.

If you are needing to drain it for a fuel pump change then a lot of times it is just as easy or maybe even easier to unbolt and lift the bed instead of dropping the tank.

appreciate it. if i had more help i would just take the bed off..... theres only a quarter tank in there, im sure i can handle it.honestly i just needed gas for my beater.heh

hmm. well there goes my theory. i thought someone was taking my gas cause i would tighten my cap and it would tell me gas cap loose. so i kept thinking someone was siphoning my gas. oh well, i needed a new one i guess. i got a locking one.

i siphoned about 10 gallons of reg gas out of my truck when i did the 6.0 swap

how? it tried and could not get a tube in there to get it out. even tried some of my grandmas oxygen tubing (approx. 1/4")

we used about a 1" thick clear hose we had laying around, i watched my dad put it down the filler neck and a couple seconds later he had gas coming out... took along time to get it all out with the small hose though.
