Selecting gears for an 06 silverado!

Hey guys! So i got a buddy who has an 06 rcsb silverado with a 4.8 cammed 212/218. He has the srock 3.23 gears and its a dog off the line.

My tuning recommened 4.10s gears to help but he drives on the highway regually. He wants maybe a set of 3.73s like me but he doesnt wanna feel like theres more and spe des more money.

What do you guys recommened? 3.90 a happy medium?

Just get the 4.10 it will help big time down low and it won't hurt anything up top. Pull a few more rpms maybe lose 1-1.5mpg at 80mph but will help mpg in town.

I'd think the 3.90's would be fine, that's just my opinion though.

Either would work.

What size tires?

Any thing over 31 in tall I would go with 4.10's

4.10s. I really like them behind my 6.0

i had 4.10 in my last 04 6.0/4l80e swap RCSB and on the interstate 80mph was 2700/2800rpm truck had exhaust drone and it got old real fast! i was lowered running a 245-50-20 about a 30" tall tire i say 3.73 or 3.90 max

another thing truck had a lot of bottom end but top side was weak with the 4.10

Hes just got the stock 16 steele rims with like an 265 or 275 60 tire. With an 4/6 drop.

4.10s and don't look back.

Look at places like rons machine service. You can get a complete package with gears bearings and a locker.
