Id screw it on first, to make sure it fits 100% right.

A body shop can always fit a little hole or two.

correcting the weld would take a little longer.

screw it then weld it...I say.

Be sure to use some body seam sealer around that license bucket. Maybe rust isn't a concern where you live, but it's important here.

Thanks for the input guys. Tried to find some seam sealer yesterday. Guess I'll have to hit a paint jobber place.

Thinking this through. At some point I need to decide if I'm going to just bolt it or weld it. It's in bare metal. Test fit it and bolt it on at this point. If I decide to bolt it on and leave it for awhile I will then paint it before putting it back on. If I decide to weld it in I'll need to go in and grind down the spots that need to be welded on the panels on the truck and install it bare metal, weld it up and paint it while on the truck.

I've also got to decide on what I'm going to do with my exhaust. Seriously considering running the dual exhaust out the pan.

Ill get a pic of those braces on the underside. But I would definitely screw it in before welding it. Mine it kinda tweaked, I donno if from shipping or just how it came. Definitely try and get it straight as possible before welding it

mine is welded on the sides, rivets at the top. No brackets. The rolled edge added quite a bit of strenght. Enought to where I wasnt worried about it and told my body man to forget the brackets I had originally planned.

Yeah pretty stiff. Think I will try it without them, especially since my exhaust may need to run right there.

There are cheaper versions available.....but these things are brilliant. I replaced all/any of those plastic nut units and all self tapping screws in the engine bay area of my Burb with these and stainless allen key bolts.
