Oil consumtion???

My truck just went from full to bottom of dipstick in just under 1000 miles, what is that 2 quarts low?

Its thirst went up a long while back when I put the cam in, but its starting to get a lil old. What is causing this?

If it's not leaking out, oil is either getting past the rings in the motor or getting sucked in through the PCV system.

Some Times It Could Be The Valve Seals..OR THE REAR MAIN SEAL

2qts/1000miles would drive me nuts....pull a plug and check.

mine uses alot of oil too, but i think alot of my problem is i had the cylinders honed to like 3.901 from 3.898 and file fit some new rings and some PCV sucking too

my old 5.3 used to do that just not as bad, maybe a quart every 3k miles... i think we came to a conclusion it was cause of the valve seals on the heads, and that was after we did the cam swap as well..

There are no obvious leaks and it doesn't smoke. I've changed the pvc a while back. I 'm guessing it might by the valve seals not being used to the higer lift cam? I'll check a plug, would that mean that oil is getting past the rings if i have a dirty plug?

It is driving me nuts! makes my truck feel like a POS

cant say much if u have changed the valve train and what not but the GM spec is 1qt in 2000 miles or under hard driving 1qt in 500 miles is acceptable, sounds like crap to me and all my customers i have to explane it to.

My old 4.8 never burned any oil, nor does the current LQ9. 2 quarts every 1000 miles is a lot!
