Default NBS T56 won't fire

truck is a 2006 RCSB 5.3/4L60E converted to manual trans. we have set everything up in HPtuners, vats have been turned off. fuel pump will prime like normal, starter will crank it over, but we aren't getting any spark. i know it has to be something with the swap.

Anyone have any experience with getting T56 swaps running?

Did you make sure to check all the grounds?

I think there is atleast one ground strap going to the back and bolts to the transmission.

those three have been checked. one for each cylinder head and another that bolted to the top bellhousing bolt.

i found the "A4 to T56" sticky, but it seems the few that actually have done it have used a mail order tune.

Really nothing has to be set for it to fire the engine when running a manual transmission or something like a Th350 or Th400.

When we swapped a 5.3 in a rockcrawler all I did was shut off VATS to get it to fire with the Th350 behind it.

If available you can try a segment swap with a manual file to make the transmission side a true manual because just switching the transmission type in the transmission tab literally does nothing and could cause weird quirks in some cases.

im thinking a tuning issue.

throw a stock 5.3/a4 tune in and see if it fires. if it does. then you know its a tune issue.

if it were me, i might start with a factory 4.8/m5 tune and then make changes to run the 5.3. i ahve had nothing but issues with segment swap tunes in the past.

I used my auto tune for 6 months before getting the manual tune, I had to put my black box from the auto in Park to make the truck start. You don't absolutely need tune to make it run. you have another issue...

This may sound like a meaningless question....but...

Did you plug the crank sensor back up? It sits behind the starter.

Another question....

Is it turning over at all or no?

checked the crank sensor. it is plugged in and the wiring looks fine. It does turn over fine, we turned off VATS and the PRNDL HPtuners to get it to crank over. Thanks for the help guys. i sure hope i can figure this out.

that thing should fire off with or without a transmission installed, Just because your PRNDL is tuned for manual in the computer; if the wires in the black box aren't jumped right then it will not start.
