I was thinking of using thick metal like used on roof curbs and it's cut with plasma. My idea was hinges at rear so it can be lifted like normal one but have it sit a little less than flush and painted flat black.

do it man, i think it would look bad ***, but the hardest part would be making it water tight.

heres one of my buddies they did, it was done very crude, simply for looks, really. its heay as **** !!!! lol you can park a car on top of it and it wont break

The aluminum would be expensive I could only fin it in 4x8 shheets so it would take two sheets and have a secondary access along side of bed that would flip open and get some hood shocks to hold it open withflat locks to lock it but this was idea long time ago 125 bucks a sheet
