Lower 4-6" Trucks Tire and Wheel size needed
My dad has a 1/2ton chevy reg. cab short bed that we lower 4" and 6". He is looking to put some wheels on it. He is looking to go with 20" wheels and some tires with some side wall not the rubber bands tires. We do not want any rubbing issues either. So if any of you folks have something similiar and would like offer any suggestions please do. Pictures would help also. With this would like you wheel size, back space and tire size. Thanks alot.

i used to have 275/45/20 with a 2/4 drop and i'm sure i could have went 4/6

Depends on backspacing/offset of the wheels. A 275/45/20 is as big as you would want to go. A lot of people like the 255/40/20s and 275/40/20s as a mid size tire. I personally have ran 275/35/20 and 245/40/20s, same overall height (27.7) but obviously one is wider. Here are a few pics

if he wants some sidewall on a 4-6, its not gonna happen on 20's. your going to want to stay around a 29 inch diameter tire, go with an 18 and a 255 55 18, it comes out to a bout a 5 1/2 inch tall sidewall.

You could use a 255/45 20, thats a 29" tire. Just get enough backspace to clear the rear fender lips. You'll want less than 4" of frontspace if that helps.

I run 255/45r20 on my truck...no problems

i used to run 255/35/20s on my truck when it was dropped 4/6

What year is the truck?

:werd:
The year would help. On a NBS (99-06) I'd say a 275/40 20 or 255/45. If its a NNBS (07+) you could do 285/50 or so. |
