Default Lookin into LS6 cam for my DD 5.3

Seen a couple threads about this LS6 cam, and I think there is more than one style. Well Im llokin to this swap but would like to do it on a budget f possible. Hoping to do cam only unless it requires springs, but would like to get away with just the cam. Something to where I dont need to swap tc or something..... Anybody got some ideas....And about what kinda power am I lookin at with this cam, and will I have some lope to it?????? By the way it will be for my 00 yukon stock5.3 and stock trans....THANKS

Don't expect steller results IMO.. You can find a low lift 212/218 cam on here for cheap and get some 50 dollar ls6 springs and would get ALOT more power and lope.

Comp makes it. Here are the specs. You will also need yellow LS6 springs (16 count p/n = 12499224) and hardened pushrods with this cam. You might also consider Comp's rocker arm trunion upgrade for cheap additional insurance.

You can run this cam with a stock tranny and wait for your tranny to die, or you can beef it up a little bit in advance with servos and a shift kit, which might prolong (but not prevent) your 4L60E's eventual demise. You might also look into a higher stall torque converter, like a beefed up Trailblazer converter from Circle D. After these improvements, your transmission's next weakest links would be the sun shell, 3-4 clutch pack, and output shaft, which you could upgrade in the future.

Also keep in mind that if you have the G80 differential, it could grenade on you at any time. You might look into a Truetrac if your truck is mostly on the street and running up to 33" tires.

My $0.02 - upgrade some known weak parts of your truck before you upgrade your cam.

Ive had the mods in my sig for about two years now and havent had a problem with my trans......yet. Fourth to second is feeling a little sloppy and sometimes it hangs out in third for a while before going to od. FWIW I beat on my truck alot and the trans upgrades were the first things I did.

I have a Yank 3000, Corvette servo, and aftermarket cooler. My transmission is 10 years and 195,000 miles old and has never failed. I have a 6.0 swap, cam, and Radix. It has been down the 1/4 mile with slicks about 40 or 50 times.

Don't be afraid to put a cam in your 5.3. Just don't be stupid and hammer it 20 times a day and it will last for a while.
