What about the ole "Pro-Tec" beds from the early 2000's. They were a composite fleetside bed. Remember those! They were "200#'s lighter or so IIR

They had the raised chevy letters and special badge.

Then someone offered me alot for it and i let it go. Kick myself in the *** for it too!

Im looking for a 99-06 RCSB. 4.8 and up motor. I would prefer a 03-05 so i dont have to put a new front clip on it.
I never knew. Sounds sweet as was Parish's.

Really? Ya, they were ~$850 IIRC from GM as an option but not on RC. Rare in yards too. I tried to price new thru GM & it was $2500 w/o the minor doo-dads to finish. I said, PASS! Nice idea, but still on wrong end for wtg.

Hard cover I assume. Undercover to my knowledge @ 57# or 59#.
My Snugtop is 110# I was told, cause I wasn't buyin if it was 200# (I heard that rumor too). I was adament w/. dealer if he knew 110# & he said he weighed em. I'll still put on scales (as close to how I weighed before w/. what was in truck) in spring for my own verification.
Ther Undercover cost less $, but is textured black not smooth painted like mine. I like lite weight, & I almost went that route. Paint won out.

If I really want to, when goin to track, I can remove in 2 min w/. help to lift.

Scott, I also didn't like the raised letters on tailgate on a Protec box. I like a clean, flat appearance unlike how Ford recessed Blue Oval into tail on the new ones.

I bought a flush mount bed cover for my S10 several years ago. It was pretty cheap, I was in college at the time and didnt have alot of money, It was fiberglass and i remember it being pretty light. It required alot of prep and paint to get it right cuz it was cheap and poor qualitiy but in the end it come out nice. Cant remember what company i got it from..

I'm pretty sure i read somewhere a long time ago that the stepside were 50 pounds heavier. i think its because of the extra support bars in them

and the Pro-tec box is the way to go. the inside part is composite, looks like the bed of an avalache. and of course the tailgate is composite too.
