i need help finding a part

i got my block back from the machine shop and they only returned 2 of the 4 parts i need. here is what im looking for. they are the hollow pins that sit in the block and hold the head gasket and head in place when you bolt them down. can i install the head without them? i cant see why i need them while the engine in on a stand. and where would i obtain these parts from other than a dealer?

I've seen the heads installed without them but they're good to have they keep the head aligned when torquing the bolts down. They are called dowels. I'm sure a member here may have some laying around ill check and see if I do.

my motor builder replaces them every time the heads come off better safe than sorry

i dropped it on without them but i have not torqued the head down just yet. i wanted to see if my lsxrt intake was going to fit with the coolant bypass. NOPE!!! now to find out what year car i need to get one from to get it to fit.

Yes you need the dowels to keep the head located.

I believe you are looking for #12570326 -Cylinder Head Dowel there sold as a single.

I have gathered alot of part numbers here for reference. https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...umbers-428941/
