just get the unit off a 2500hd and all the lines that go into it. You'll need to T off one line but that's about it.

If you're interested, PM VicLlama on gmfullsize. I'll be doing this soon myself.

Do I need a master cylinder or can I use the one that is on the truck?

nope you don't need a master cylinder. You can get all the parts for under $100 if you look around.

Here's exactly what VicLlama told me. He converted his because he's bagged and body dropped on 24's

"Yeah man its pretty simple.. You use your stock lines and master cylinder. Just make sure you get the lines off the 2500 that goes to the P.S. pump. Theres one line that comes off the Hydroboost that you have to Tee off into the return line for the P.S. pump. Thats pretty much it.. "

First, It's best to get a pump from a hydroboost truck, as its got the high mounted return tube, in addition to the low mount. The other thing it has is higher pressure to handle the increased demand. Running a hydroboost unit on a lower pressure pump won't give you the full benefits.
Also, you can buy all your hoses, and it will look stock. (Think about it, would you run a 105amp alternator with a 2000W stereo system?)

I would get new pressure lines from the pump to the Hydroboost unit, and from the hydroboost to the gear inlet. You dont want to pop a hose and burn your truck down.
Hydroboost units increase the stress demand on the system, so make sure your connections are good and tight, and your hoses are A-OK.

Make sure you bleed the system out well.

FIll the P/S Pump of oil to the Add mark on the dipstick
If you've got a Mity-Vac, and a large rubber stopper, pull a vacuum on the top of the reservoir can for around 10 minutes, note the vacuum for leaks.
Release the vacuum.

Apply 5 or so brake applies to cycle and push through fluid in the Hydroboost unit. Slow, full strokes. Re-check fluid level and note the change. If its alot, you just pumped out a decent amount of air. Repeat.

It's the highest point in the system, so it's going to take a bit to get all the air out.
