High mileage and horsepower/racing
Just wondering how many miles some of you guys have on your trucks and how much horsepower you put down and how often you race them.
Wanted to get an idea of how the high mileage modded trucks are doing as I'm about to do a few mods to my dd that already has retalively high mileage.
Thanks

164,000, all my mods were done roughly 10,000 miles ago, my right foot got heavier afterwards too. I haven't raced because of the flood and some drivetrain gremlins I had on and off throughout the summer. But she'll hit the track this summer. Possibly with a little giggle gas.
Still runs like a dream. FWIW - When I pulled the heads I check crosshatch and ring groove, both were much better than I expected with over 150k on the clock.

Have 250,6xx miles currently on mine and have no issues or noises. Dynoed 285hp/319tq about 8 months ago. I consider myself a "Spirited Driver". In town im usually the first one off the line at a green light and the first up to full posted speed. Im not flooring it everywhere just little more agressive with the skinny pedal. I am fully planing on boosting this engine dispite the mileage in the next year or so. Im not worried at all. I plan on doing some valve/head work before the boost but around 8psi is what im looking for.
How many miles do you currently have on your ride.

My truck is about to hit 140,000. It's making like 4.5 pounds on the stock 3.6 pulley. I'm going to swap to a 3.2 so I guess I'll see around 8-9 psi and get a tune. I drive the truck all over the state for work so mileage is adding up fast. It makes me alot less concerned about modding it knowing there are others with much higher mileage with no issues. I go to the track pretty often also and occasionally do a few runs on the street. Should I be worried running that much boost on a completely stock 5.3?

The LS series engine is VERY strong. I wouldn't worry as long as your tune is spot on. The only thing I would worry about is the transmission (automatic). I put all of my miles on my from work and I have zero consern when I go somewhere.
Keep good fuel, clean oil, and a solid tune and you'll be good for a LONG time.

I run mobil 1 full synthetic high mileage and only Shell 93. The transmission was rebuilt with a shift kit and servos 6,000 miles ago and feels pretty strong. Thanks for the input guys, Im going to order the first round of mods pretty soon.. I can't wait to twist the wick and have a little fun!
