hemi dodge ram

Hey all, first off nice site. I'm a member at a few off-road forums, shoot i dont even own a new truck yet. Looking for a 1996-1998 z71. I just came here for some information. I have heard from several people that the 5.7L hemi will loose against a race with a stock 5.3L chevy. I know a fella that thinks his Hemi is pretty hot stuff

Wondering if anyone could post a video of a chevy owning a dodge, stock vs. stock 5.3 or the 5.7 chevy against the 5.7 hemi. 1/4 mile times or basic ft/lb torque or HP numbers would work too.

Thanks!

i haven't seen a video of one yet. just an EC hemi taking on a EC silverado SS with a 6.0

there could be a few 1/4 differences depending on which truck the 5.3 is in. obviously the EC Z71 will be the slowest because they are so freakin heavy :bang:

4WD Regular cabs will be faster, and 2WD RC will be the fastest.

to give you an idea of what my truck runs with all the mods in my sig, i run about a 15.3.

'99s have less HP than the newer 5.3's

Just depends on which 5.3 you line with the single cab hemi. I'd say an 02+ scsb 5.3 with 3.73's should be about even with a scsb Heim with a slight edge on the Heimi. Both have been known to dip into the high 14's stock.

a reg cab 2wd hemi outran a silverado ss according to motortrend, and kept on a harley f-150's tail! thats a stock hemi, for about 15k less then a ss or harley

alot of guys here are having hemi kills on the street. haven't heard much of hte other way around :D

they've usually been stock qc 4x4 vs. modded 5.3. and keep in mind this is a "GM truck & SUV department" forum. stock vs stock hemi rules all (cept for lighting, they covered that with a viper engine though :drive: )

how about a 4.8L beating a hemi?
I got one:)

also keep in mind the 5.7 hemi hasn't been around that long, so not many places offer and extensive assortment of mods for em, so everyone whos ran a hemi most likly was up against a stock truck w/ exuast :)

Like stated earlier. Basically the only thing that will take a RC Hemi stock is a Regular Cab, Short bed 5.3L or a 4x4 version. Anything else is gonna have alot of trouble.

The SS is an awesome platform though. It is very easy to get it into the low 14s or high 13s N/A. Then slap a nitrous shot or blower and you're set :)
