Probably the seat back element. These are now available through most parts stoems made by Dorman.

ok well i noticed some other things that might diagnose what it is.
the passenger side works perfect but when i turn the drivers side on and it shuts off it also will turn off the passenger side also but once i turn the passenger back on it stays on and works as it should. so i dont think it could be in the drivers seat maybe a relay?

let me know your ideas and thanks again.

Same thing happened in my truck.

Was the driver's seat VERY hot the last few times it worked?

It's probably a bad seat element like chevymec mentioned.

My GMC did that and I replaced both the drivers and passenger seat and back elements. After i took the leather covers off the elements were melted to the foam in the seat. they all came apart with some patience. but i installed the new elements and they all work now. I cant believe GM has recalled this - i would think if you went to warm your truck up in the winter and turn the seat on or had the seat on for extended period of time that it could cause it to catch fire...

If i could get gmpartsdirect.com to work right i would get the parts number for you. But search and get them there they are way cheaper than the stealership

The drivers side seat will over ride the passenger seat and cut it off when the element is bad.

Dorman p/n for seat bottom is 641-105
seat back is 641-106 .Go to any parts store and they can use those number or cross it to another manufacturer.

And to add the Dorman seat back element has the wires on a different side but will still reach the connectors to hook it up. Everyone I have done is like this on the drivers side.

ok i got the frivers seat bottom off a few min ago and it dont seem to be burnt or melted so i guess it has to be the seat back element.
can anyone tell me how to get the seat back apart to swap out the element?
i know i need to take the seat out of the truck to do it.

thanks
