Headers for a 4.3L V6

Ok. I know this is a V-8 forum, but I don't have a V8. I'm looking to get some headers for my truck right now. I know the sound ain't gonna be as nice as an 8 but oh well. What brand do yall recommend? What length(long tube, shorties, mid length)? I have EGR unfortunately. Would it be bad if I was to just cap the EGR hose off or leave it hanging? What would sound the best? Should I get chrome or coated? Thanks for the help yall.

Since nobody else seems interested in doing anything but running the 4.3 down, take a look at the Edelbrock TES system, it includes the Y-pipe also. I had one on my 94 Sonoma and it helped a lot.

Thanks Avalanche2002. That's what I was looking for. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for it and what did it sound like? Thanks.

I used to have an 01' silv with a 4.3, so i know what you mean. Check out TruckPerformance.com. They have alot of great stuff for the 4.3. Mine had 1.6 rockers(1.5 stock), K&N, Jet Stage 2 Chip, true dual flowmaster, Jet SCU 2000, throttle body, electric fans, underdrive pully and 4.10s. It actually ran pretty good, and sounded like the old vortec V8s at cruising rpms.

I suggest shorty headers because your truck has the y-pipe and cat back as the v8 and flows pretty well. They cost @$413.

From experience i say get an underdrive pully($80), cut the restrictor off the TB blade(free and makes a huge difference), 1.6 crower rockers($320), and a Gibson catback($290). These mods will give you more power than you thought you could ever get from that V6.

Just reread your sig. Forget what i said about the Gibson catback, and do the rest.

What resistor on the TB blade? This was my first truck to buy on my own and I didn't really know what I wanted, that's why I got the six (that and the truck was used). But I figure that since I'm stock with it, I might as well see what I can do with it. Can you point me in a direction on how to do the TB mod? Thanks for the help. What about a cam? I'm thinking somewhere around a .500 lift, 220's duration, on a 112-114 LSA. Thanks a bunch.
