GMT400 vs GMT800 frame strength for 6L/turbo build
 

Hello,
I really like the 93-98 (GMT400) 2 door Tahoe/Yukon...I was told that the GMT-400 frames are not as strong as the GMT-800 frame, and that they should be "Boxed" for a high-HP build.
I'm looking at doing an LQ4 6.0- 4L80 - 4WD - T76 TURBO setup, making around 900HP. Looking to run 9s-10's (no cage)
Any bad experiences with the GMT-400 ?? advice ? comments ?

A boxed frame will always be stronger than a c-channel. No way around that. With the hp goal you're looking at, the c-channel will frame will flex and twist the rest of the truck to shit.

If you like the gmt400 frames, the most logical thing to do is cage everything from front to rear. Not only to stiffen the chassis, but to safe your life when you're going into the 9s-10's. Gets two birds stoned at once.
