A forged part is stronger, lighter and less porous than a cast part. If it is properly chromed than it should last as long/longer than a cast chromed wheel.
Salt will eat thru anything though, best to run the stock wheels in those conditions.
Mine are polished aluminum and as good as they look they are a major PITA to keep up.
You can always get your wheels powder coated and not worry 'bout it.

I had a set of centerlines on my 99 an they were DESTROYED after 2 months in the salt. They pitted so bad that they could not be saved even with mechanical polishing. (if i wanted to spend the $$$ they could have been polished though). Upkeep is a real pain for the northern guys in the winter.
