Angry emissions codes after headers p0140 p0160

so i put some longtubes and a catless y pipe on my 2000, 4.8 sierra. i used two sparkplug defoulers for each rear 02 sensor. it is still throwing codes for them. is there any other way to keep them from throwing codes so i can get the truck to pass inspection? they only do a computer test for emissions here, so as long as it doesnt throw a code im good. the codes are p0160 and p0140, which are just no 02 sensor activity in bank 1 and 2, sensor 2 on both. any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Those are circuit codes and not exactly emissions related in a way.

You need to figure out why you are having voltage problems to the sensors. The non foulers just space the sensor away from the exhaust but you have circuit issues. Check fuses and power to the connectors.

Or just get a tune and turn those codes off.

I dont think there are any fuses for the o2 sensors. I can check the circuits but i dont see any reason that itd be bad. I mean it just threw the code as soon as i ditched the cats

Could have damaged the sensors when you took them out, really old o2 sensors will damage easy.

there is fuses for the 02 sensors in your underhood fuse box. look at the bottom legend with the asterisk symbols, you will see what fuses are for the sensors

Looked for a while and finally found them. They are both good. I believe they are for the front upstream sensors. I dont think there are any for the rear 02 sensors. Using the defouler trick, you dont even have to put them back in the exhaust do you? Can you just ziptie them up out of the way and it will still work?

No, the defouler that I am aware just spaces the o2 sensor out of the exhaust stream. The o2 sensors still have to be plugged in and put in the exhaust if you don't want codes.

Otherwise you need to tune the codes out.

Ok. Thats clear that up for me. My other option would be a tune if it wasnt so damn expensive. Im still in highschool so barely make any money to spend. If i could find a place that doesnt charge 300 minimum to do it,Id do that, but no luck so far. I thought about just getting extensions and hanging them in front of the end of exhaust, since its dumped. But i need alot of extensions for that. Not sure what to do

I just had a mail order tune from Frost, with shipping both ways it was still under $200.00. Well worth it I think, especially at least in my case I had changed the gear ratio and tire size. No more check engine light, no more brake warnings!

cool man. how did the process work? was it pay and then send? how long did it take from the time it left your place to the time it came back? was it pretty much 2000 or was it closer to 150? thanks
