i have no threads inside the pump shaft.

You should, look harder. I've never seen a PS pump with out them.

There might be a plug pushed into the hole, so check that out.

...then it sounds like you need a new pump...it should definitely have threads

There was threads after I cleaned it out. Just the rental did not have the right size install tool. Headed to harbor freight tomorrow.

^for installing any bolt with the correct thread and some flat washers will work. pulling's the only part that requires anything special.

Anyone know the size bolt needed for reinstalling the pulley? I got some performance tool kit from O'Reilly but its waaay to small in diameter. I too thought at first that neither of my PS pumps were threaded.

i bought my pulley install kit from harbor freight. not sure about the thread size but if i had to guess i bet its 1/4 20
