did something stupid
so i have been tearing down my 5.3 to do a 383 build and i wanted to powder coat my power steering pump bracket. i used a 3 jaw puller to get the pulley off and i bent the pulley and the damn thing never budged. any advice on how to get it off and get a replacement pulley?

The dealer or junkyard for the pulley.
To remove/install the pulley you need a power steering pulley puller/installer. |
damn me! like i said did something stupid. ill check with harbor freight for the puller. ill google online for a pulley. or maybe a member has one laying around.

You can rent the puller from Autozone, Really simple to do. You have to pay the full price, then return it for a full refund. So it doesnt really cost anything.

Dont sweat it bro, I havent taken off or installed a PS pulley yet, and i want to so i can clean up that damn PS/ALT bracket, i have a new clean one to put on, the old one looks like ass :eyes:

I bought the puller/press combo from orileys for $15 I think.

Good luck with getting it on

i have one in my hands right now but i dont or cant see how to use it to re install the pulley. im waiting for the brackets to get back from the powder coaters and i just finished repainting the pump so im about to clear it. but if you can explain how to use this to install it would be awesome. i think im supposed to thread into the shaft but there is no threads.

To reinstall it, there should be a piece that screws in to the shaft of the PS pump, then the threaded pulling part will screw on to it, then you just use the big nut and thrust bearing to push the pulley back on. ;)
