Default Converter Lockup........

Reposting here as I posted in NNBS area mistakenly- I know this has probably been addressed somewhere but can't find anything. I'm lookin' to take the plunge with a Dacco TB converter as I'm getting comfortable enough with dropping the transmission and turning the converter on the input shaft ensuring that it drops twice. The question is; how is the lock up function of the converter controlled/ accomplished? My firs concern is some wire that needs to be connected somewhere or is it accomplished hydraulically actuated via a redirection of the fluid?
TIA

It is all done through the valve body and main harness connector.

If you're dropping the pan too and full trans and converter, you're gonna need about 11-12 quarts. More cooler is always a good thing.

Dayum- 3 gallons of ATF, where is it all at? In the torque Converter? And do I somehow put a quart or 2 in the converter B4 installing it? And something I overlooked- I'm 4x4, is the transfer case supported by the cross member also?

-The pan itself is 8 quarts, and the trans, cooler, and converter all hold some. Aftermarket pans add 4 quarts usually.
-Yes you need to put a couple quarts in the converter before you install it.
-There is an adapter that connects the trans and transfer case. This part is supported by the crossmember and the tcase hangs off the back and trans off the front.

Its easier to pull the tcase off first since there are crossmembers in the way and you cant drop it straight down. Its not that bad, only about 65lb.

May as well change the Tcase fluid, too. Any recommendations for that?

If its a manual or electronic non-auto case then you use normal ATF. If it is an autotrac case you need the special fluid from GM.
