Computer guys come in!!

Hey I've got a quick question about my computer. Right now it has a
Pentium III processor, 599 MHz, 512 MB of RAM. I'm always wanting to play cool computer games but my piece of sh$t won't play them because of the little processor I guess. What do I need to buy in order to play games that require a 800MHz CPU and faster. Do I need a better motherboard/CPU? What do you guys recommend? Can I just buy a better cpu off ebay and just swap them out/ what is involved? Sorry for my ingorance, but I'm computer illiterate when it becomes this technical.

you can just buy a new processor. an 800 shouldn't run you too much. and depending on the game, you might have to get a new video card. you can check on the bottom of the game box for system requirements and start checking off what you need and don't need. hope this helps.

well i can tell u right now ur gonna have to spend a little bit of money...since ur ram is SDR and DDR ( double data rate ) has been mainstream now for a long time figure i 120 for an amd 64 2800 with heatsink ( win 64 is gonna be here april might as well get a cpu that can run 64bit code )

65 bucks for a EPOX EP-8KDA3I and figure 80 for 512mg budget DDR400
these are all at newegg.com...this is a budget system that should last u a lil while

Just going from a 600 to an 800 is a waste of time. Your hard drives are probably slow, you are probably light on RAM, and its very likely your video card isn't up to snuff to play the newest 3d games. Don't put any more into that PII system, you won't see the difference.

jus build a new budget computer. newegg has good prices. built mine that way. saved like $1000 cause i built it myself instead of buying one

I'll echo what BigTex said.

Another vote for Newegg.com here too! I built my whole system from the parts I bought from them.

I build and sell computers and this would be the way to go.

Post up a budget you're willing to spend......let the building begin!

You can build a suprisingly fast machine for 300 dollars, use your existing case and power supply. Everything is plug and play, it is alot easier than you think. If you can work on you truck you can build your own computer.
