Catch Can Recommendation
Looking in to a catch can for my 01 Silverado 6.0 N.A motor. Wanting opinions on what can to purchase and I am also wondering about oil and fuel odors after installing a catch can, I am hearing some comments about strong odors after installing. |
I have the Norris catch can on my truck, used them on my F-body cars as well.
|
Any oil or gas smells? Was it a kit made for our trucks or a universal fit? |
Ive used Elite Engineering Catch Cans on all my rides, made in the USA and the best quality IMO, never had any issues with fuel odors...
|
The two I was reading about were the Elite and the RX. I will look at the Norris can as well. |
For an NA motor, there should be no smells as the catch can will retain it's closed loop function. You also don't need anything fancy or expensive to accomplish this.

The hose going from the DS valve cover to the intake needs to be re-routed to the top of the catch can, and the side outlet of the catch can then needs to be routed to the port on the intake where the stock hose was removed. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.per...ca4d98e50b.gif Here's a post with a similar can to the one I linked to where it's mounted in a silverado. |

I had a Norris can on my old truck and now when to a Monster RX can on my new truck.
|
Any reason you went away from the Norris can for the RX? Did the Norris can work well? |
Where does the check valve go. I got 170K on the clock and need to get a catch can on there. I guess I'm alittle behind LOL
