Yea, that's really the only "bad" part. Nothing a little sheet metal can't fix.

The first pic of a truck with the GMC bumper/ HD grille isn't even a 99+ truck... that front end is on an OBS truck... check the groove in the door and box...

Default I was thinking about doing something similar

I have a 04 Sierra. But I really like the 2002 HD Front end. What all would have to be done to accomplish this ?

This is a 10 year old thread, and been discussed a lot, but I like that you at least tried to search.

This is when you take a Silverado HD grille with the HD bumper cap and cram it on a non-HD front end. This is the easiest way to get an HD grill. There is a DIY where you have to cut the bumper mounts off the frame and mount the bumper an inch or two lower so you can keep the gap like it originally has. Some people don't even like the gap, let alone the ground clearance you lose to do it. This method is also easier, and doesn't require any cutting or anything. You could just take the cap and grille off and put the non-HD parts back on with no changes if you wanted to.

The best way requires you to change the hood (a Silverado HD hood can be cut to make room for the sierra headlights), fenders, grill, lights, and bumper. Not doing all of these things will leave a gap somewhere. These are really the only two 'lazy ways' of doing it where you are not changing everything else. Because of the headlights needing to match the grill, then the fenders won't fit the headlights, these are really the only three options, (at least with factory parts).

There are aftermarket kits that change it up such as this (ebay, amazon, carid,, these are common). I don't think I've ever seen one that is set up to interchange, but IF you could find one who makes the HD grill to fit with the sierra headlights it would depend on if they would change it to fit the sierra bumper, or if you use the HD bumper cap. Most people think these look like trash anyways. If you already have those chrome panels, and extra fender vents, then do your thing.
