Take the broken bolts back to O'reilly's with your receipt and raise hell. Tell them you want ARP's or your going to start a picket line in front of the store.

Thats why i hate the tty bolts. I got a friend thats a mechanic and was replacing the head on a 2.2 chevy broke two of the first 3 or four off when following the specs. So then he just said screw it and torqued them to a set number because they stretch a lot.

Do you know what he did to get them out?

Those bits that dewey posted will probably only work on one of the bolts, but the other one is a good 2-3'' down there and those bits didn't seem to be that long.

The drill bits you can usually change out if you need to to longer ones. I would find a snap-on or matco tool guy around and see what they have on their tool truck.

You tried to re-use a TTY bolt twice?!?! You have got some huevos!

Not to bash, but please never re-use TTY bolts, they are not designed to be re-used. Ever. Some people do it and get away with it, but they just get lucky.

I had a bolt break off in the block on a buddies truck when we were taking them out. He sold the block off to someone to use a table..... I think a shop could take a stab at it, but you will have to remove the block and it won't be cheap for their time either. It will probably be more cost effective to get a new shortblock.

No offense to your friend, but I would not let him near your truck.

Just thought I would update, I finally got all the broken bolts out of the block today. I ended up using one of those center bits and then got a couple different sized left handed bits and got them out. Going to drop it back in the hoe this weekend and can't wait to be able to have my own truck again. Also I bought a TR224 off a member here and just put that in today so I'm pretty excited to see the results once we get it all tuned up.
