OH MY GOD!!

My friends father used to make those balloons when we were younger... until he had one go off due to static. I don't think he was injured.

How big were the baloons? The guy I know used small trash-bags.

 

Acetylene burns HOT. Why aren't there any burn marks on the upholstery? Why did the dash come apart like that during an explosion? Something is definitely fishy about this story. The truck is obviously trashed, but it doesn't look like an acetylene explosion to me.

 

This wasn't a constant supply of acetylene coming from a tank like in a cutting torch. An explosion like this would have lasted only a fraction of a second, not enough time to char upholstery.
