ABS light
Every once in a while (2X week) I fire up the truck and the ABS light and
parking brake light kick on. Shut the truck off and it goes away. Dosent seem to be affecting the braking but kinda pissing me off. Any ideas, did this before redoing the rear brakes so I know its not from that. :bang: |
ABS modules go out all the time. Not a cheap fix either from the dealer. I bet that's the problem. Pretty soon the light will stay on.
|
Mine does the same thing. I'm ignoring it for the most part. I took it to the shop awhile back and it was fixed for about a month.
|
Eh, sooner or later you'll be pulling the ABS fuse and having to stare at them 24/7, unless you want to dish out 1200 for the fix...
|
The sensors had a recall took'em in and had them replaced..... if that as anything to do with your problem?
|
it does affect your braking. when both lites are on your abs does not work. next time you see them on slam the brakes...youll notice that you dont get that nice sentual foot massage from the abs anymore. im ignoring mine.
|
Dam, that sucks. I think the sensor was a wheel speed sensor. ??? I had that replaced when they did the recall. I really dont think I'll be shelling that kind of cash for a "light fix"
and I can get used to no ABS. |
I've actually been thinking of trying out something from this guy http://www.modulemaster.com/gmabsrepair.html . For 150 bux, it might be worth it, and I'm pretty sure this is the route of most of our problems...
|
You're going to spend $150 or more fixing something that probably isn't the problem.
When the ABS module fails, it allows the motor to run ALL THE TIME. When you turn the truck off it almost sounds like a mini air compressor filling up. I'd be willing to be it was a wheel sensor or POSSIBLE the abs motor but the module is a different issue. I know first hand because I had an abs module fail on my truck. |
First things first need to install the tech2 or obd2 scanner to see what DTC is in the
EBCM, if its a C0265 the EBCM is getting ready to take a shit,if its a front WSS dtc lift up both front wheels and see if a hub bearing is loose if so replace. |
