I've got a nitrous kit, but I've been reluctant to put it on, mainly becasue it's my daily driver..Being that the engine is on an LS1 platform, I was thinking that with bolt-ons I would be seconds faster, but i wasn't considering the weight. I know after 60mph, my truck starts pulling hard! I just need to get the 0-60 better..I know a tune would help out alot, but would a Z06 cam help out my 0-60 and not effect my daily driveability?

 

Z06 cam is crap. Much better otions out there especially for a 6.0 motor. You would lose a lot of bottom end with that cam. I would either use the search to look up 6.0L with cams.

 

My 6.0 2500hd 4x4 ran 16.1@86 with just a upd intake. I think a ls6 cam would be a great choice. My camaro has tons of low end torqe and pulls great on the top side too, not to mention awesome durability and milage.

 

How street friendly is the LS6 cam? I don't want cam surge or radical idle...This is my daily driver and I want all I can get out of bolt-ons and maybe use a little N20 to surprise the Ls and the SRTs... Is there anyway you can get 13s N/A and 12s on spray?

 

The exhaust on the trucks is far from perfect. The pipe coming from the drivers side back across is pinched down to about a 1" opening and its not round.

When I put my Magnaflow cat back on it really helped out. Then when I put the long tubes on with the cat delete and a mandrel bent exhaust it really woke up.

I have been 15.89@ 89 in my 01 1500 HD CCSB 4x4 with a shitty tune/ cat back/ 05 E-Fans and a CAI

I ran it since the long tubes but the air was shitty and nobody was running worth a ****.

 

2500HD exhaust is not pinched due to the taller frame, just an FYI

 

The ls6 cam is perfectly streetable. You can hear it just a tad. I drive my car every day as my main mode of transportation and it still gets great milage. Actually I can't tell the difference between the ls1 and ls6 as far as milage goes.The truck useally only moves when it has work to do.

 

Its wasent pinched because of height it was pinched in the 90* bend where it goes back under the tranny.

 

2500HD isn't pinched anywhere, my old 1500HD was prettymuch as you describe though

 

Hmmm my Bro in law has a 2500 w/ a 8.1 and I was curious so I looked under it and it was the wsame way.

I have seen 4 or 5 pinched off like that. Now they were 00, 01 models if that makes a difference.
