2000 GMC emergency (parking) brake problem

Default 2000 GMC emergency (parking) brake problem

Hi All,

Having brake issues. The brake does not grab, the cable is seized. I am replacing it but Im not sure that the lever is actually working. It already looks like its

Anyone have a video or spec on how these work. I need to understand how this is supposed to work

Are you sure the cable is seized? Im not questioning your judgment in a bad way but i dont think its common at all for the cable to seize to the point that it dosent engage the parking brake at all.

Yeah it was seized. Im in nova scotia, Canada and the salt just kills these things if they are not used.

Just came in at 9:30 PM and it was the cable. I see how these things work now. Also the other side is shot too. Also the intermediate because the nut is corroded to heck. Pretty much rendered useless and needs replacement in order to adjust.
