Yukon Question
My Dad has a 2001 Yukon with the 5.3L. My brother and I want to get him some bolt-on mods for Christmas. What do you guys suggest?
Air Lid? Catback? Tuning (chip or equivelant)? |

Come on, I know you guys can answer this question! <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0"> |
Re: Yukon Question
depends on alot of things, does he want it to be loud, more gas mileage, stuff like that. a k&n gen 2 kit would be a good cheap present, or any kind of cat back exhaust. you would need to get one that he would like as far as noise goes.

Re: Yukon Question
Yes, a K&N Gen II kit is something I would buy. What do you think about the Flowmaster cat-back? Who sells the K&N Gen II Kit?

Re: Yukon Question
MTI & Thunder can take care of you on the K&N. There is also a Volant intake that looks pretty cool: http://www.volantperformance.com/Pro...853install.htm
Here's a thread about Flowmaster on a Tahoe: http://www.ls1.com/ls1forum/Forum27/HTML/001665.html I wouldn't get him a HPP3, unless he's the kind that likes to tinker with that stuff or has future plans to change gears/tire size/top speed, etc. New plug wires or power pullies might be a nice stocking stuffer. <img src="graemlins/gr_xmas.gif" border="0" alt="[santa]" /> The Denali grill will fit on the Yukon, but I think you have to get the Denali bumper, turn signal lenses & fog lights also to make it fit right. http://osx.wieck.com/pv/WKA/1999/10/...0011003_pv.jpg http://osx.wieck.com/pv/WKA/2001/08/...0132568_pv.jpg Notice the differences? Re: Yukon Question
Forgot to mention, a cool mod that GMC guys do is just swap the original headlights for the projector style that are on the Denali. Looks sharp. <img src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" border="0">

Re: Yukon Question
Neil, thanks for the great ideas, I never thought about a pulley! The Flowmaster is what I'm going to go with and the volant set up. Thanks for providing the links and the picture comparison. I'm going to call the GMC dealer today to find out pricing on the Denali grill. Does anyone know the part# for the Denali grill, headlights and bumper?

Re: Yukon Question
Is your dad the type that likes to drive faster than 99mph? If so, buy him the Hypertech just to bypass that ridiculous top speed limiter. It can really cramp your style in a passing situation, so the Hypertech to remove it is a "saftey device" <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

I think the whole conversion will run ~$1,000 just for the parts. <img src="gr_eek2.gif" border="0"> [ December 13, 2001: Message edited by: Neil 6.0 ]</p> |
