You may have a preset temp if yours doesn't have an adjustment on it, do the instructions say what temp it's set at? I mounted my temp probe right next to the top radiator inlet hose, I wanted to get the coolant temp right when it came out of the engine. I slid the probe through the radiator fins and it came with a couple of plastic things that held it in place.
