Wiring ?? on my LT1 E-fan....

Got my LT1 fan and i have a wiring harness. I need some help on how to hook it up. The fan itself has no wires comin out of it. It just has plug in things. Do i need to buy anythin else to make it work? Also how hard is it to get the stock fan off? Do i just unbolt it?

There are the little electric plugs you can get at an auto parts store that fit the fans. Just make sure you squeeze the part together that slips on the fan, so it plugs on very snugly and won't come off. I don't know what part # or anything, but they look kind of like the plugs to a subwoofer. Just take the fan in the store and make sure you get the right size. They are like 3 bucks for a pack of 30 I think.

There are two connectors on each fan, one is the ground and the other is the power conection. Use a multimeter to find out which is ground, put one lead on the outer metal case of the fan motor and touch each connection. The ground will zero out the meter, the power connection will have some resistance. I used slip on connectors similar to a speaker wire connector like Cash Dude said. The relay used need two power sources, one always hot (battery) and one hot when the ignition was on. The battery connection can be made on the RED battery box on the driver side of the engine. For the ignition on, used a spare fuse hole in the fuse box under the hood. The relay has a ground wire, connect it and the two fan ground wires to the grounding nut on the frame down below the engine it front. Let's see, ground, power, I think that's it!

Y2k, Does that wiring harness that you got from kragan's come with a switch so that i can turn the fan off and on from inside the cab? If not what does it run by and can i still install a switch?

I have both fans going on & off together, I didn't try and hook up a switch. Let's see, there was an A/C wire which I didn't use, a fused power to ome fan (had to buy another inline fuse for the other fans wire), a ground wire, ignition on power wire, battery power wire. Pretty sure that's it! Don't mess with a switch, you won't know when to turn them on. It's been warmer here lately and the fans have been going on & off while I'm in traffic. I've watched the temp gauge and it doesn't move, not when the fans come on or when they go off, I wouldn't rely on it! Just use a thermostat and you woun't have to think about the fans at all, they'll do there own thing.

Sorry bout all the questions on this topic, but i'm clueless when it comes to electric crap. How do you set the thermostat on it, and what should i set it at?

Y2k, you said you had to buy another inline fuse to run both fans. I went to O'reilly's and got the plug ins for the fans. Each one has a power and ground wire comin from it. Do i still need to buy another inline fuse?

I would have each fans power wire fused, that way the fuse pops instead of blowing the much more expensive relay if you have a problem. The kit I had only had one wire that was fused, I needed to buy another fuse for the power wire for the second fan. If you have a fused power wire to EACH fan, then NO, you don't have to buy another fuse.

For got about the thermostat question <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> .
I have mine set at 190*, the little dial wasn't much help on that stat, it's so small. I think the temp range on mine was 150*-210, I chose 190* so it came on about the same as the 195* stock stat setting. I used an infra red heat gun we use at work, I kept ajusting the stat until it was where I wanted. I've check the radiator temp right after driving and on a 60* day, the temp was about 172*, it took about 4 minutes sitting and idling to get the fans to come on. They run for about a minute and shut off, when they shut off, the temp is back down to 175*.

Y2k, I'm not sure that i have the same thermostat part as you did. Mine just has the thermostat rod. I didn't notice any knobs to adjust it anywhere. Where do i mount the thermostat rod?
