Royal purple, mainly for it's water seperation abilities. It won't mix with water and foam up easily. It just beads up and and is still able to adhear to the metal. Just a little insurance that could save the bottom end if you have water intrusion from blown head gasket etc.

I use conventional Castrol GTX 5W-30 and change it every 3,000 miles. No problems!

Why do you guys that run synthetic and a decent filter change your oil at 3000 miles? I just feel that is a waste of money.

I run AMSOIL Series 2000 and Mobile 1 5w-30 depending on if I have AMSOIL stocked up or not, and for the filter I run either Mobile 1 or Amsoil Ea02.

I change the oil around 8k-15k, I have oil analysis completed before and it proves to be working.

German Castrol 0W-30, initial filter is an AC Delco PF61 from the Trailblazer, then I swap it out for a Purolator Pureone of the same size. I only run this stuff about 5-6K miles as it isn't as tough as M1 Ext performance, the only real Mobil 1. I might switch back to 5W-30 M1 EP when it gets a bit warmer, but the GC stays in while it's cold out. Oh, did I mention my oil pressure seems to be more responsive to engine speed changes with the 0W-30? The OP gauge swings much faster and a bit higher than with 5W.

The 0-30 Castrol has the Euro specs, it is much better then the regular Castrol. I just have a hard time finding it around me. But anyway I run Mobil 1 5-w30 and a Delco filter.
