Heads will most likely come in at some point. So what heads would work best in my application if I were to keep the 212/218 cam? I'd been looking at the CNC 4.8/5.3 heads from SDPC. Seem like a decent price, but not sure what all CNC involves. I'm kind of a noob with that stuff.

a set of heads should help you meet your goals, or intake with some milled heads would do the trick aswell
tires will eat up some power on the dyno

Anyone know the cost to send my 706 heads off to get milled? Or what heads should I go with at a budget friendly price?

just buy some PRC heads from TSP, for me it was cheaper to go that route then to have mine built
and if you upgrade to the NNBS intake that'll help you a lot, I'm putting 352hp to the rears on the setup in my sig
this last weekend I added PRC 243's shaved 0.035" and some UDP so I'll rebook a dyno session in a bit to see what those gave me

I bought set of 706s off of here, and had a full valve job done, milled 0.020", PAC1218 springs locally. $200 for heads, $800 for everything else, total of just over $1k.

Only thing that PRC stage 2.5 heads has that I don't is larger valves, PAC1218s are good for 0.600" vs 0.650", I have stock retainers, seats, seals, locks as opposed to titanium.

How it looks like TSP is accepting customer supplied heads:

PRC Stage 2.5 5.3L CNC Ported Heads

If I were you, I'd buy a set of 862 or 706 casting heads (no castechs) and send them off to TSP.

the PRC heads are also CNC ported and come with titanium retainers and .650 springs, that's a lot different then a valve job and milled heads.
couple hundred more and you get a better head.

True, I didn't mention the part about them being ported.

PRC is definitely better way to go, would have done that in hindsight.

So I've got the 706s stock. Keeping budget in mind, how well would these perform if I sent them out to TSP or TEA? Any guesses on gains?
