I did fuel pressure, boost/vaccuum and EGT. I installed the EGT on the exhaust manifold about 1 inch from the head. This is what the tech guy at Autometer told me. Gauge works great but I have heard about 100 different suggestions on what my temps should be!!!! So now I just have another cool gauge. Anyone have any ideas how to tune with EGT or at least use it to keep tabs on the engine?

Mechanical is better than the electrical boost gauge.

The probe is usually the last in line. Now it will be between the turbo and manifolds.
Backpressure will not throw off an EGT like it will an O2 sensor.

Normally you put the EGT probe in the collector before the turbo.

Ahh ok... Then we still have the issue of what is a proper reading for their particular setup.. That's why for the price I'll stick with a wideband. LOL

Easy.. anything over 1600 will melt an aluminum block. So with that said, shoot for a target temp of 1500-1550 at WOT.

Then again it will take someone with a WB verify the gross generalization I just made.

Are there any guages that look similar to the guages in the truck for a stock look?

What does a WB measure? Air vs. Fuel, for lean or rich right?
And how much does a kit cost?

I have a pyrometer.... I'd like to throw it as far and as hard as I can...

Here's what is good for: a) beeping constantly when I have my right foot resting lightly on the floor (with the go pedal underneath of course) b) showing that my EGTs are between 1300-1600+ at full boost.

That's it. My EGT has never varied one little bit across 5-12psi, with or without methanol injection.

Depends on what color your instrament cluster is. Mine is that really dark dark grey color. I use the Autometer Coblat gauges because they are dark in the center but light up blue at night. They match decently durring the day. They are expensive as hell right now though! $199 for a boost guage!!!

a digital voltmeter on the O2 sensor itself is a good way to instantly read rich or lean.

aftermarket blinky light A/F guages are garbage, and EGT guages should only be used as a guide, due to the fact that combustion chamber temps can often reach dangerous levels, much quicker than an EGT guage can react.
