V band clamps
#1
Do they really work as good as people say they do? I need to stop my horrible exhaust leak from my headers to my y pipe and these look like my best bet. (stupid ? time)Does the y-pipe have to come off to install these or do they open up enough to leave the y pipe on cause if not I think it might be a real PITA and I might have to go with band clamps instead

they can be installed without removing the y pipe. I found on the passenger side, the O2 sensor bung was in the way and wouldn't allow the clearance for a band clamp - this was on my pacesetters.

summit sells a nice stainless 3" wide clamp that could be trimmed to fit your needs. I use these on my tail pipe connection . They work great and are easily removed. I did smear some hi temp copper rtv inside for leak insurance.
