Default Upgrades equal less power?

Lq9 in a 02 excab silverado. Had custom 222/228 .598/ 589, 111+3 cam, cnc ported 317's, chambers cut to 68cc, stock intake and TB, 1 7/8 long tubes with single 3 inch exhaust. Swapped the 222/228 cam for Tick Sinister stage 1 227/235 cam, tbss intake, Warr 90 mm tb, 3" true duals. Jrx tune is spot on but the damn thing lost power? Seat of the pants gauge says alot less power down low and maybe more upstairs but not much. The truck is now pretty much a dog! Where did i go wrong?
Figured a little more cam, better intake, bigger TB and better breathing exhaust would not lose power?

Needs more cubes.

Seems you could done better buy just letting that smaller cam breath more to make more power from that. The other cam coulda liked the TBSS intake and larger throttle body.

Twin 3" exhaust pipes is too big. Single 3" or twin 2.25"/2.5" max

I may just put the smaller cam back in. I dont like this Warr throttle body either so may get a holley or NW.

The exhaust is fine, too much cam unless your running a significantly higher stall speed converter. What converter is in it? What rpm is it tuned to shift at? Are you still running the stock injectors? Stock 6.0 injectors barely support a stock motor.

Do you have an actual dyno you can show us? Who did the heads? What converter do you have?

Your last cam would have been VERY punchy down low. It has an early intake close and a late exhaust open. Its great for down low power and part throttle power. I think what you are feeling is a lack of mid range and part throttle performance.

The new combo will come to life AFTER 3500 RPM. You really need a decent converter to feel like its stronger all around. In a truck I would say this new combo requires a 3600 not to feel like its a little sluggish

Need some compression to go with that big cam too. You may not have lost any power up top. In fact you likely gained. But a big cam cam rob power down low. You need some 243 heads to up the compression. The 243 heads were a great mod for my big heavy truck. The seat of the pants dyno told me I picked up quite a bit of torque. The real dyno backed that up. I made more torque than horse power on the dyno.

Frankenstein Engine Dynamics worked the heads, i have 2800 circle D converter now, i did have a 3200 circle D with the smaller cam but it was WAY loose so thats why i went with the 2800 which of course seems way to tight for the Trick cam. If i go off my tach it shifts at 6k which i thought was a littke low for the cam. Is the Warr TB an issue? My tuner doesnt like it. JRX Tuning did the dyno work and he is very good. He didnt like the cam choice either!

You are totally correct. The smaller cam was perfect down low and mid range but had no guts upstairs and i grew out of it pretty quick. I didnt think the trick cam was that much bigger but guess i was wrong. I need to stop messing around and go FI!

LS3 injectors with walbro 255 pump. I should have left the 3200 stall in or maybe went bigger. I have a 2800 circle d now. Problem is i drive this truck everywhere everyday so i was afraid of drivability with the larger stall. With the small cam rhe circle d 3200 was very loose.
