UPD really worth it?

Is it worth the 200 bucks?

I have asked the same question. Most people have told me they liek it but quality issues would stop them from buying another. they say go with volant.

Yeah i have K&N but ive been hearing Volant is the way to go. Now my standing argument against that, which still my standing argument, is that the Truck stock comes with the same style setup as that Volant only real diff is that the Intake tube extends to the front of the truck rather than into the fender. And also the filter is changed to a cone. So i dont see how it could make that much of a diff but everone else i've talked to on this site says if they could do it all over again they would go with the Volant

I agree as well. Why not just make one yourself and save $100?

Yes that is the best way really is to make your own and its not that difficult with the right tools. And sometimes turns out to be either more efficient that that of aftermarkets, or generally the same hp gains but for lots less money

cstchevy 03-31-2004 02:51 PM

The biggest gain is the smoothing of the tubes and the heat dissipation that the volant makes. If you use regular PVC tubing it's probably going to get real hot and not be as efficient. Hell if you wanted something cheap cut the bottom of your stock box out and take the metal tray out. Ive did this until I can buy a volant.

Yeah but have you seen your engine bay. As you and everyone knows heat rises and when your engine compartment is closed that heat sits inside and no matter what kind of tubing you have it will eventually get hot its only a matter of time. Knowing this the tube gets hot and by the time that "cold air" makes it to your TB its already just as hot as it would've been if you have an open end intake system. Besides the cold air aspect of it is really only good for about 2-3 extra hp

cstchevy 03-31-2004 02:56 PM

thats why they make so many kits. Make your own it can't be that hard.

01Blackerado 03-31-2004 02:57 PM

Exactly why pay more money if it wont benifit you that much for the price diff
