Twin Drop In Fuel Pumps
#1
Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone has put twin pumps in the tank? I have a 255 lph fuel pump, but am considering modifying the basket in the tank to run both my stock pump and the 255 lph. I guess I am just looking for some help on fuel pump setups.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply...I guess I am just uncertain as to what needs to be done to make the twin pumps work? What do you have to modify and can I run the 255 along with my stock pump? I would imagine there is some sort of modification to the unit that drops in the tank? Thanks again for the help.

I'll answer to the best of my ability, but I didn't actually make the kit, I bought it pre-made.
My bucket was cut to fit the two pumps together. I've been told not to beat on the truck when under 1/2 tank because of this. The kit I bought also came with it's own wiring harness and a Hobbs switch.
The wiring kit supplies power to each pump through large gauge wire. The stock fuel pump power wire is only used to trip the relay on the supplied harness that I received. There is also a Hobbs switch that I have tied to manifold pressure. This controls the second pump, which only comes on above 4 psi. I can see it kick on, as my fuel pressure jumps from 64 psi to about 68 psi when that happens.
That's pretty much the basics of how it all works...I would imagine that you can run the stock one with the 255, but it would be best to step them with a Hobbs switch so they don't both run all the time. I've heard that running both all the time heats them up too much.
